Lansing — A Michigan judge is expected to announce Tuesday morning whether criminal charges against 15 Republicans who signed a certificate falsely claiming Donald Trump won the 2020 election can proceed to trial.

The decision could push the cases against a group that includes prominent GOP activists further into the spotlight, as Trump holds the White House, or toss aside Michigan prosecutors' most direct attempt to bring accountability for the bid to reverse the state's 2020 result.

Judge Kristen Simmons in Ingham County's 54A District Court scheduled a hearing for 9:30 a.m. in downtown Lansing. A protest is scheduled to take place outside the court building.
