ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- A man has been arrested after allegedly pouring boiling water on his great niece in Belton on Friday afternoon.

Gregory Bernard Campbell is accused of using boiling water to injure his 24-year-old great niece, who was subsequently taken to the Augusta Burn Center for treatment.

Further details about the victim's condition have not been released.

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said the motive behind the attack at a home on Misty Circle remains unclear. The suspect is facing an assault & battery charge following the attack, according to deputies.

He has since been released on bond from the Anderson County Detention Center.
