ATLANTA — Twelve families have been displaced after a fire at an apartment complex in Atlanta overnight, according to the Atlanta Fire Department.
Fire officials said heavy fire was coming from the breezeway balcony on the third floor of the building located on Magnolia Way.
One woman described her experience while she was trying to escape after she saw the smoke.
"So, I tried to open the door, but the flames were coming in," she said. "So, it pushed me back. So I just shut the door and went towards the balcony part and called 911."
Seven people were rescued from the building, officials said. Atlanta Fire said four adults and four children were taken to Grady Hospital in stable condition for treatment, with one adult sustaining minor burns.
