REDDING, Calif. - The Asphalt Cowboys Community Barbecue has been a beloved tradition in Redding for 71 years, drawing thousands together for food and support. This year, the grills fired up once again to continue this longstanding event.

Andy Clemens, the current top puncher for the Asphalt Cowboys, shared the immense effort required to ensure the tradition runs smoothly.

"A lot goes into this. It's a big job," Clemens said.

Clemens explained that the event is a collective effort, with assistance from various groups.

"We got help from search and rescue. We've got a lot of the members' wives helping out. We've got Enterprise football helping out," Clemens said.
