OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Two top-level state officials announced their resignations this week, as Attorney General Gentner Drummond accused Gov. Kevin Stitt of misusing his authority by directing one of them to obstruct law enforcement operations for political reasons.
Secretary of State Josh Cockroft tweeted Monday that he will resign effective next month. Cockroft previously worked on Gov. Kevin Stitt’s campaign and later served as his deputy chief of staff. He did not say why he was resigning, only writing he was “excited to announce a new chapter soon!”
Gov. Stitt also announced Monday that Rick Rose, director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES), will step down at the end of the month. Stitt’s office announced Rose’s resignation on Monday, praising his service.
