WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Members of the Westlake High School football team are trading their jerseys for reading chairs this September as they prepare to participate in “Read with a Demon.”

From 6 to 7 p.m. Monday (Sept. 15), Demon football players will settle in with young readers in grades K-4 at Westlake Porter Public Library, creating an exciting bridge between athletics and literacy.

“We’re thrilled to have our players give back to the community in such a meaningful way,” said head football coach Logan Yantek.

“This program shows our student athletes that being a leader extends far beyond the football field.”

Reading is fundamental to success in all areas of life, and these players want to help inspire a love of learning in their fellow mini Demons.
