FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fayetteville will continue to use the ShotSpotter program for the next year.
City council voted 8-2 Monday night to extend the contract at a cost of more than $220,000.
The gunshot detection technology has been controversial since its pilot program launched in September 2023.
Some residents say Fayetteville leaders need to invest differently in the community.
The new Fayetteville Police Chief, Roberto Bryan, also spoke last night saying ShotSpotter reduces response times, helps with their investigations, and improves public safety.
