RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – What developers are describing as the “largest indoor pickleball facility in the world” is coming to the Triangle area.

Warehouse owner Chris Mitscherlich is moving forward with his plans to build a 160,000-square-foot complex in north Raleigh, according to a social media post.

Mitscherlich, the founder of The Underground, located at 2806 Gresham Lake Road, seeks rezoning from the City of Raleigh to transform the 7.81-acre property.

He proposes the new facility would include 44 pickleball courts, four sand volleyball courts and four badminton courts. It will also feature a bar serving alcoholic beverages, as well as food and retail space.
