ENFIELD, Conn. (WFSB) - A crash involving a vehicle and a Tilcon crash truck occurred early Tuesday morning in an active construction zone, sending one person to the hospital.
The contractor was picking up traffic pattern equipment before the morning rush hour when the crash happened.
The contractor involved was not a CTDOT employee, and no state-owned equipment was damaged, the Connecticut Department of Transportation said.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene, which has since been cleared.
Connecticut State Police are investigating the cause.
“Sadly, this is not uncommon, as highway workers are consistently in danger, day and night,” said CTDOT Communications Director, Josh Morgan.
Morgan urged drivers to slow down, stay alert, and move over in work zones to protect highway work
