BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating after a shooting left one man hurt on Monday, Sept. 8.

BRPD responded to a reported shooting around 9:30 p.m. after a call came in from Byron Avenue. Further investigation led to investigators concluding that a shooting took place at the City Town Meat Market, 4850 Beechwood Drive.

BRPD said individuals were shooting at each other when the man was struck. Police said the man appears to have been an innocent bystander. The shooting victim sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Emergency medical services officials confirmed that one person was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Detectives are searching for suspects and a motive in connection with this shooting.
