JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two new restaurants have opened on East Tennessee State University's campus.

On Tuesday, the university announced in a news release that Jimmy John's and the Blended Pedaler celebrated grand openings in the first week of September.

Jimmy John's cut the ribbon on Thursday in the D.P. Culp Student Center. Those in attendance received backpack buttons and got to try the chain's sandwiches.

The Blended Pedaler opened on Friday with acai bowls and music. The restaurant's menu includes items like superfood bowls, smoothies and protein bites.

"It means the world to us to open a location on campus," Blended Pedaler owner Lauren Griffin said in the release. "We started out with one location and have seen tremendous success. This location now makes our sixth storefro
