After a weeks-long search for 12-year-old Bryan Vasquez ended in tragedy when his body was found in a lagoon near his New Orleans East home, questions persist about the timeline of events on Aug. 14, the day he went missing.

Following the arrest of his mother, Hilda Vasquez , on felony counts of second-degree cruelty to juveniles and negligent homicide, her arrest affidavit released by New Orleans Police Department Special Victims Division Officer Mario Bravo provides an accounting of the hours before and after Bryan's disappearance.

Bryan, described by his family as nonverbal, had previously left the house at least two other times in August, but Hilda Vasquez had not installed proper restraints to keep her son safe prior to Aug. 14, Bravo said. Bryan's body was found by a Cajun Navy
