LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — More than three dozen qualified applicants have emerged to fill the Ward 2 vacancy on the Las Vegas City Council since Victoria Seaman left the job.

The vacancy will be filled at the Sept. 17 City Council meeting, when one of the 40 applicants will be appointed to the position.

Several well-known names appeared on the list: • David Gardner, a former Nevada assemblyman and attorney focusing on education. • Kara Kelley, the former — and the first female — CEO of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. She is now on the Colorado River Commission. • Serena Kasama, daughter of Assemblywoman Heidi Kasama. She works as a lobbyist. • Tom Warden, senior vice president for Howard Hughes Corp., and former Channel 8 I-Team reporter. • Kristina Wildeveld, a Las Vegas attorney.
