LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art school in Pleasure Ridge Park.

The new Kerrick Elementary School is expected to open in Fall 2027.

“This investment puts our students first, empowering the with a sense of belonging, a feeling that they’re worthy of high-quality space that reflects the quality of their education,” JCPS Superintendent Brian Yearwood said Tuesday.

According to the district, the new school building will be a single-story, 80,330-square-foot facility that’s projected to cost about $30.2 million.

“We are making our footprint here in history. This will be a site for generations, where students can come, can learn, come thrive and develop,” Yearwood said.
