PARSONS, W.Va. (WBOY) — West Virginia University President Michael T. Benson stopped in Tucker County on Tuesday as part of his effort to visit all 55 counties in West Virginia by next summer.

Local leaders showed President Benson the Tucker County Courthouse, telling stories of the county along the way. As a former professor of history, President Benson appeared to take a special interest in the records room of the county clerk.

When asked what he hopes to accomplish in his time as the President of WVU, Benson said he wants the university to be a source of pride for the state. He added that WVU is “a university for the entire state” through aspects of the university like WVU Medicine, WVU Extension, West Virginia 4-H and regional campuses throughout West Virginia.
