Queensland’s Energy Minister David Janetzki has confirmed the state will push ahead with a detailed timeline for shutting down coal-fired power stations, setting the stage for a fresh political fight over the future of energy.

The LNP government will unveil its five-year energy road map on October 10, laying out the sequence in which the state’s seven coal plants will close.

The plan is set to extend the life of the Callide B station until at least 2031, three years longer than Labor had intended.

Mr Janetzki said the strategy would provide long-awaited clarity for investors in renewables and was not driven by ideology.
