LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Tuesday, Franklin County residents spoke in front of lawmakers regarding their opposition to the proposed prison in their community.

“You're about to see 141 exhibits, a 15-page timeline, and an hour-long presentation,” Adam Watson, a Franklin County resident, said before the meeting.

Watson is a part of Gravel and Grit, a local advocacy group dedicated to opposing the prison.

It was that group’s official complaint about a month ago that led to Tuesday’s meeting, where lawmakers in Little Rock heard from Watson and another local, with several more behind them in a show of support.

Watson walked through the complaint, calling into question the process that led to Franklin County being selected as the official site for the prison.
