HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Growing up on Oahu, Bill Keale was surrounded by music.
It runs in his family. Moe Keale was his uncle and Bruddah Iz was his cousin. But his biggest musical influence was his mother.
”My mom used to sing to us when we were kids,” he said. “I just remember her voice and her ukulele. I asked her one day if she could show me how to play.”
That was the start. He learned to play the guitar, write songs, and perform.
Then in the early 1990s, he followed his heart when he followed friends to Bend, Oregon, where he established himself as a well-known musician.
”I started small. I would just look for little restaurants to play at little bars here and there in Oregon,” he said.
He also found a career at St. Charles Medical Center, where he worked in housekeeping bef
