NICEVILLE, Fla. (WKRG) — A man is fighting for his life after an SUV struck him while riding on an electric skateboard, according to the Niceville Police Department.

An NPD news release said officers were called to a crash on John Sims Parkway around 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 8.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found that the SUV was driving west and entered the right turn lane at the same time that the man was traveling east in the same turn lane.

"Both attempted evasive maneuvers to avoid each other, but their simultaneous movements resulted in a collision," the release said.

The man is in critical condition at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.

Officers said the crash is under investigation.
