LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department is continuing its partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to assist with security at Husker football games this season.

This season, fans will notice a new layer of protection at Memorial Stadium, the LPD SWAT Team. This is the first year that the entire team has been present at home football games.

LPD Assistant Chief Jason Stille said during football games the SWAT Team will monitor specific areas around the stadium, assist with certain medical issues, and other situations.

“We are not policing drunks,” AC Stille said. “We are generally not breaking up fights in the stands, we’re not doing that. But we’re there to react to anything that might be a greater risk to the public. We’ve seen these events happen around the coun
