LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln man accused of attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday.

Lincoln Police were called to the F Street Rec Center shortly after 3:30 p.m. for what was originally believed to be an assault.

During the investigation, officers learned a 12-year-old boy was walking with his friends near 10th and F streets when an unknown man approached him, grabbed him by his backpack and began pushing him toward a vehicle.

According to police, the man asked a woman in the vehicle, “is this the boy?” and when she said no, he let the boy go.

LPD said the entire incident was captured on camera by witnesses.

Officers identified the man as 38-year-old Tony Brown and arrested at his home on suspicion of attempted kidnapping-voluntary release.
