Despite the Hay Street two-way road works now complete and open to the public in East Perth, it is still the subject of complaints about design flaws and compensation.
The street became two-way from 2pm on Sunday, August 31, in a bid to improve traffic flow, public transport access, and pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.
Its original estimated completion date was June.
Jo and Chris Moorhouse, owners of Bella Gina Cafe on Hay Street, said the project had almost taken a year to complete, despite being told it would only take six months.
Ms Moorhouse said compensation claims were rejected by the City of Perth insurers.
“We tried to put in a compensation claim but before we’d even supplied evidence or figures, we got a letter back saying we had no right to claim,” she said.
