BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County Fire Rescue's new fire chief is officially on the job. ZacharyLardy started his new role as chief at BCFR on Wednesday after the county formally introduced him at the Bernalillo County Commission meeting Tuesday night. Lardy is a third-generation firefighter and has nearly two decades of service with the department, including as deputy chief.

As chief, he will oversee more than 300 personnel, manage department operations, training, budget, and other responsibilities. "My intent is to carry the mission of the organization. That mission is to provide a positive impact through dynamic services for our community and its neighbors. That is important to me, that is within my heart as a public servant, and that is core to what we do," said Lardy
