SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Last year after a quiet August in which we only saw 2 named storms the season exploded after the peak day which is Sept. 10th. In 2024 there were 12 named storms which developed after the climatological apex in the Atlantic basin.
Forecasters are still on board with at least the possibility of 7-9 more storms forming before it’s all over. And if the prognosticators are right of those 9 named storms we could see 7 of them with winds greater than 74 mph and 2 of those with winds stronger than 110 mph.
Today the National Hurricane Center put out its daily tropical outlook which has been free of any concerns lately only to mark an area in the far east Atlantic. This one is likely to be a storm which will do the bend away from the Caribbean and head out to the open wat
