GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — On Thursday, the Ride of Awareness will conclude its four-day cycling journey in Grand Junction, bringing over a thousand bicyclists to the city to participate in the weekend's Tour of the Moon event.
After departing Washington Park in Denver on Monday morning, cyclists began their 278-mile ride. The event features a few notable riders, including the first American to win a Tour de France, Marianne Martin, cyclist safety advocate and former racing cyclist Bob Shaver and retired corporate executive Greg Holm.
The journey aims to bring awareness to the increase in injury and death for cyclists and other vulnerable road users while advocating for stronger laws against those who cause their injuries or deaths.
