BELLEVUE, Neb. —

The Kiwanis Club of Bellevue is hosting a solemn remembrance ceremony Thursday night at American Heroes Park to honor those who died on 9/11. The event will also remember the fallen soldiers from Nebraska and Iowa who died in the war on terror.

"It recognizes all of the first responders because these are people who run to the danger instead of running away and they're doing that for us every day," said Bill O'Donnell, with Kiwanis Club of Bellevue.

A statue of a firefighter at the park, marked with the number 343 on the helmet, serves as a tribute to the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11.

During the event, there will be a roll call for the fallen from Nebraska and Iowa who died in the war on terror.
