CHATHAM COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities recovered a body of a missing person Thursday afternoon from Jordan Lake.
A major search went underway in Chatham County late Wednesday night for a missing person believed to be experiencing a mental health crisis. The body was recovered around 1 p.m., authorities confirmed, and no foul play is suspected.
Based on received information, the person's last known location was near the U.S. 64 bridge at Jordan Lake. An occupied vehicle was found near the bridge, according to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office.
Early Thursday morning, Eyewitness News on the scene saw a search boat on the lake, a drone surveying the area, and a K-9 team searching along Highway 64 near the water. Previously, it was reported this person may have fallen into the water.
