HOBOKEN, N.J. (PIX11) – The boil water advisory in Hoboken was lifted on Thursday after multiple mains broke earlier in the week, according to officials.
Residents were advised to boil water before drinking or using it as the mains were being repaired. Officials are now encouraging residents to run water faucets for 3 to 5 minutes to flush their system before they use it.
These are other precautions that residents are asked to take: • Empty and clean the automatic ice makers and water chillers • Drain and refill the water heater if the temperature is under 113 degrees
The city gave away water bottles as repairs on the mains were being made. Several New Jersey cities have been hit with major water main breaks over the past few weeks, leading to numerous boil advisories.
