SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Missouri State will host its opener against the SMU Mustangs this Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2:30 p.m.

Missouri State is 17-6 in its last 23 home games dating back to 2021.

Missouri State football is coming off a road victory against Marshall, 21-20. It was the first win at the FBS level for the Bears in program history. Tight end Jeron Askren was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week after hauling in the game-winning touchdown with two minutes left to play.

SMU is coming off a double-overtime loss to Baylor on the road, 48-45. SMU was ranked #17 at the time of the loss. Running back T.J. Harden carried the ball 19 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.
