With the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company and its apparatus and staff as a backdrop, Delaware Governor Matt Meyer on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, signed a pair of bills into law supporting the state's fire companies.
Meyer said first responders were there for their communities during COVID, and it's time for the state to help support their efforts at recruiting and retaining firefighters.
"Now think about that, the Governor and people across our country were saying 'stay at home, don't go anywhere,' but these firefighters behind me got up and came to work, and when they had to go to people's homes or workplaces where there was danger, they went," Meyer said to applause.
