CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Panthers employee was fired on Thursday for a social media post about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk .
Sources told WBTV that Charlie Rock, a football communications coordinator with the team, was no longer working as of Thursday, Sept. 11.
Officials did clarify that Rock was employed by the Panthers, not Tepper Sports and Entertainment.
What we know
According to multiple screenshots circulating on social media , Rock appeared to have posted about Kirk’s murder just hours after it happened on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
In one of those posts, Rock allegedly wrote: “Why are y’all sad? Your man said it was worth it ...” and included a photo of Kirk. In another post, Rock allegedly referenced the Wu-Tang Clan song “Protect Ya Neck.”
