LIBERTY TOWNSHIP — Officials from the Porter County Sheriff's Office are asking the public to avoid the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and North Calumet Avenue because of a "serious" crash.
Sgt. Ben McFalls of the sheriff's office told The Times the crash was between a motorcycle and a second vehicle.
The exact nature of the crash is unclear, and officials did not provide any details of possible injuries.
The Porter County Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash, and more information is expected to come Friday, officials said.
In a statement just before 2 p.m., police asked the public to stay away from the area "over the next few hours."
