BART's general manager spent Thursday morning in the hot seat answering questions about the systemwide shutdown last week that stranded hundreds of thousands of riders.

At the transit agency's regular board meeting and on its 53rd anniversary, it was hardly business as usual days after a network update shut down BART service Friday.

BART General Manager Robert Powers was grilled about the technical glitch that prevented the system from starting up and running during the morning commute.
