OMAHA, Neb. —

The FBI is searching for the suspect accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot while speaking to a crowd of about 3,000 people at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Tin Nguyen, principal investigator at NCITE, studies situations like the Utah shooting that killed Kirk.

"This is a largely nonpartisan issue, right. And something that I think we need to take seriously. It's certainly a challenge to navigate," Nguyen said.

Nguyen noted that politically motivated violent acts are becoming more common.

"We've looked through some of that information in the last year or so and have identified some patterns that do seem to fit a little bit with the incident that happened yesterday as well," he said.
