The ASX 200 boomed on Friday after a surge on Wall Street where the three main indexes reset their records after fresh inflation data pointed to a nearby rate cut.

The index is up 0.9 per cent after the first hour of trading.

Virgin Australia has jumped about 1.6 per cent on Friday as the airline revealed its former CEO Jayne Hrdlicka will pocket almost $50m despite leaving the company.

Ms Hrdlicka will receive more than 10 million shares and about $20m in salary, bonus and payouts.

Since trading began, 10 out of 11 sectors are up with mining and financial stocks leading the charge.

Regis Resources has jumped 3.7 per cent while Alcoa Corporation is up 3.7 per cent and HMC Capital has risen 3.6 per cent.
