Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, was known for energizing young conservatives across the country.

He was shot and killed at an event at Utah Valley University—his death sending shockwaves through the political world.

Reactions are pouring in from across the nation, including here in Alaska.

Governor Mike Dunleavy posted on social media saying, "This is a tragedy. Charlie was murdered for exercising free speech. It’s going to take all of us to protect that right."

Members of Alaska’s Republican delegation also shared their condolences.
