STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — With New York City students returning to campus for the first day of classes last week , Staten Island drivers are now forced to deal with back-to-school traffic across the borough, and some are navigating a significant new traffic pattern at one of the borough’s main intersections with mixed results.

Beginning last month, a new flow of traffic was implemented in Richmond at the intersection of Rockland Avenue, Richmond Road and Morley Avenue to alleviate the traffic-choked intersection.
