Conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death Thursday comes amid a growing wave of politically motivated attacks that seems to be surging after decades of isolated incidents.
A motive remains unknown in the killing at a college campus in Utah where a sniper apparently fired a single shot that hit Kirk’s jugular artery from a rooftop about 140 yards away.
The assassination came three months after Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota were ambushed by a gunman at their homes, leaving four shot and two dead.
Two Israeli embassy staffers were murdered in May after an event at a Jewish museum in Washington, D.C and a man angry at Covid vaccines fired hundreds of gunshots in August at CDC headquarters in Atlanta, killing a police officer.
And that’s just so far this year.
