NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina daycare employee has been arrested in connection with a child abuse investigation in North Charleston, police say.
The North Charleston Police Department said it had arrested 75-year-old Gladys Rampersant on Thursday following an investigation into an incident that happened in July at Sweetgrass Christian Academy on Redount Road.
Police said Rampersant was seen yanking a child up by the arms and forcibly shaking the child several times. Authorities said she then slammed the infant into a crib.
Police said Rampersant later pulled the infant out of the crib and hit the child on top of the head multiple times.
Following an investigation, Rampersant was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center. Police
