NORTH CHARLESTON — A 75-year-old employee of Sweetgrass Christian Academy has been arrested in connection to an alleged incident of child abuse reported in July .

Gladys Mitchell Rampersant was charged Sept. 11 with one count of unlawful conduct toward a child.

She was an employee at the Remount Road daycare that opened this summer, according to North Charleston police .

Rampersant allegedly yanked an infant girl by her arms, shook the child and slammed her down into a crib, according to an incident report.

Two subjects who alerted the Department of Social Services about the incident were fired. A third individual was demoted and threatened with termination, the report states.
