Visitors to downtown Des Moines are losing a free parking option on nights and weekends.
The Wells Fargo Parking Garage in downtown is no longer free due to new ownership, a Keck Parking official told the Register on Sept. 12.
The eight-story garage was available to drivers for free after 5 p.m. during the week and on weekends. The parking garage at 800 Mulberry St. was one of many pieces of Wells Fargo's dwindling downtown footprint.
In August, Wells Fargo sold off its office complex to DMCRE1 LLC ,. The 545,238-square-foot parking garage was one of seven parcels Wells Fargo sold to the Nebraska-based LLC for $9.8 million. More: Where can I park for free? What to know about downtown Des Moines meters, street parking
Axios Des Moines reported that Keck would focus on monthly parking
