UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (WTAJ) – WPSU, a Central Pennsylvania public radio station, will be winding down its operations following a vote from the Penn State Board of Trustees Finance and Investment Committee, and now we're hearing from leaders.
On Sept. 11, the committee voted against a proposed transaction that would see the transfer of WPSU public radio and television stations to WHYY (a public media organization based in Philadelphia). The proposal would have seen the University support WPSU’s assets transfers with a $17 million subsidy over 5 years.
"During the executive session, the committee discussed the profound impact on valued Penn State employees. WPSU has been a cornerstone of public media in this region, and this was a very difficult decision," Chair of the Committee on Finance
