Charges will not be filed against Ryan Woods after investigations into the shooting of Derek Gonzalez that took place on May 18, at the McDonald's on 500 E. Nifong Blvd. concluded.
According to a news release from the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney, a review of all evidence and witness statements concluded that Wood's actions were justifiable as self-defense.
According to past KOMU 8 reporting , Columbia police said Woods would not have charges filed, but would not give a reason.
The incident started when Derek Gonzalez pulled in front of Woods on Grindstone Parkway. Woods stated he had to swerve to avoid a collision, according to the news release.
