EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) - When it comes to SIAC football, there aren't many rivalry games bigger than Memorial and Mater Dei. Pride, bragging rights and playoff implications are all on the line.
But what makes these rivals different from any other, is when the clock hits zero, there is only one stat that matters, their battle off the gridiron of tackling hunger.
More than $15 thousand people are currently experiencing food insecurity in Vanderburgh County. But organizations like The Knights of Columbus and The Society of Saint Vicent De Paul are trying to combat this year.
This year marks the ninth annual Hunger Bowl. The Knights of Columbus along with the local high schools are aiming to raise more than $40,000 for the food pantry.
