POSEYVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) -- The North Posey School District plans to spend more than half a million dollars to install solar panels at North Elementary School. Officials estimate that will save the system $47,000 a year in electric bills so the project should pay for itself in 13 years.
"We can offset 87% of our utility bill,” Superintendent Todd Slagel said. “What a great savings that will be freeing up money for other things for the school corporation."
The school corporation has been working on the plan for two years but Slagle says the savings will be needed as North Posey expects to see reduced property tax revenue in coming years as a result of senate bill one which was designed to hold the line on property taxes.
