Frustrated residents and business owners have voiced concerns about unfinished roadworks at a busy town centre junction where workers are “hardly ever” there .

They claim Southern Water contractors have failed to complete the “nightmare” job leading to heavy congestion in Gravesend town centre.

The emergency work on the A226, where it meets Ordnance Road and Milton Road, started on Tuesday (September 9) to fix a burst water pipe and is scheduled to last for ten days.

Southern Water, which is responsible for the job, says it’s at a “particularly challenging location” and is taking longer to complete than expected.

But some locals say workers from contractors Clancy have barely been at the site leading to long queues at the temporary traffic lights, especially at peak times.
