When Mike Garlinski from the Manitoba Football Hall of Fame called Brian Dobie to tell him he’d been a 2025 inductee, Dobie was surprised.
He shouldn’t have been. After all, the MFHOF board changed the five-year waiting period to virtually no years in order to fast-track the greatest football coach in Manitoba history into the Hall.
“Like, it was super cool,” said Dobie, sounding more like a teenager than a retired football coach. “Mike (Garlinski) was really excited to tell me and obviously, it’s a gigantic honor and I know that they fast-tracked me which obviously they didn’t have to do. They really shouldn’t have done that, but it kind of struck a chord in terms of how meaningful it was and how much they cared about it.”
On Sept.25, Dobie will enter the Hall with former Neepawa Tiger
