KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — University of Tennessee, Knoxville graduate Tramell Tillman won an Emmy Award for his role in the Apple TV+ series "Severance" Sunday night.
Tillman won in the category of outstanding supporting actor in a drama series, beating out other "Severance" actors like Zach Cherry and John Turturro as well as James Marsden from "Paradise" and three "The White Lotus" actors — Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs and Sam Rockwell. Tillman is the first Black actor to win in this category.
This was the first time Tillman had ever been nominated for an Emmy Award. “Severance,” a science fiction psychological thriller, finished its second season in March and was nominated in many other categories including outstanding drama series and outstanding lead actor.
