NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. ( WCSC /Gray News) - A day care employee in South Carolina was arrested for allegedly attacking a child at a Christian preschool, authorities said.

Gladys Rampersant, 75, of North Charleston, is charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.

These charges stem from a reported July incident that occurred at Sweetgrass Christian Academy.

Detectives say Rampersant was allegedly engaging with a baby, less than a year old, yanking them up by the arms and shaking the infant hard before “slamming” them into a crib.

Reports say she allegedly went back to the baby, pulling them out of a crib and hitting them over the head several times.

Police say the 75-year-old was arrested for this “disturbing” crime Thursday and booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.
