BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department says one person was injured and two homes damaged during a house fire early Monday morning, Sept. 15.
Firefighters arrived on the scene around 5 a.m. in the 910 block of North 44th Street. Upon arrival, officials say the home was heavily engulfed with flames showing from the roof. The occupant of the home, however, was able to escape safely by the time they arrived.
Crews quickly worked to bring the fire under control. One firefighter sustained a minor burn injury during the call.
According to fire officials, the fire began in the kitchen and continues to be under investigation. No foul play is expected.
The home is considered a total loss and a neighboring home also suffered damage.
